A Full-Service Immigration Law Office

Thank you for visiting the website of the Law Office of Julia R. Binger. This website highlights the hallmarks of our practice: personal attentionhonesty and expertise.

Our office is dedicated to serving clients in two areas: immigration and naturalization law and divorce mediation, which is carried out under the business name Northport Mediation Services. More information about Northport Mediation Services – which has just completed 15 years of practice – can be found here.

A member of the New York State bar, Julia R. Binger has been practicing immigration law for over 25 years. She helps people of all nationalities through the often complicated and difficult processes of getting temporary visas, legal residence, and US citizenship, and avoiding removal or deportation. The office handles both family and business immigration matters, and also advises and assists employers with their I-9 compliance issues.

The hallmarks of our practice are accessibility and compassion and we pride ourselves on paying close attention to the unique needs of each client.

BEWARE of unauthorized practitioners offering help to file your application or petition at  significantly low fees. It is against the law, and you may fall victim to immigration services scams.  It might mean a delay in your application or petition, unnecessary costs and fees, or worse, may lead to removal proceedings. The best first step to take is to consult with an experienced immigration lawyer.

Our Legal Services

The Law Office of Julia R. Binger assists clients in all stages and matters in immigration law.  Learn how we can help you with your legal needs by browsing our several options.

  • Consultation

Competent consultation is the first best step that you should take in order to know the available legal remedies and reliefs that may be available to you. Since immigration laws are complex and often confusing, it is often inefficient to obtain general information that often will not suit your unique immigration need.

In the Law Office of Julia R. Binger, we take the time to interview you and review your individual case during the first consultation or meeting. Because of our expertise in immigration law for more than 25 years, our in-depth knowledge of the law allows us to explore the options with our prospective clients and present them possibilities and options that are applicable to their unique situations. At the end of the first meeting, our clients are more informed of their situation, which allows them to make educated decision on how to proceed with their case, under our guidance.

If you received a Notice of Appearance or a Request for Evidence (RFE), contact our office immediately.

  • Representation

Upon signing a retainer agreement, our client formally enters into an agreement with us to represent them. As a full-service immigration law firm, we are able to represent our clients in all stages of their immigration case. We prepare and send documents, forms, and correspondences, respond to requests for evidence, appear on USCIS interviews or before the Immigration Court in removal proceedings, and in employment-based immigration cases or work visas, assist in obtaining labor certifications.

In the Law Office of Julia R. Binger, you can expect that we give sufficient time to put together a well-researched and well-prepared case to obtain favorable results. As results are not guaranteed, we can only assure you that we will perform our duties diligently and competently. Learn about our Success Stories to learn more how we can help you.

  • Client Relationship

Our legal representation is completed upon fulfillment of the retainer agreement.  However, Attorney-Client relationship continues to exist, as well as ‘Attorney-Client Privilege’, which guarantees that a case, and all  information related to it, are to remain confidential. It is our duty to keep and maintain a record of our client’s files for future reference, or for future immigration cases, such as applying for naturalization, or filing a petition for a relative as soon as citizenship is obtained.

Maintaining a great client relationship is very important to us.  We welcome comments and suggestions so that we can serve our clients better.

  • We are accessible. We make sure that we return your call if we missed it. We recognize that it is of utmost importance to address our clients’ inquiries to make them better informed.

A U.S. Citizen wife is married to a Colombian native who entered the United States without inspection.  The husband first came in the U.S. in 2001, when he was 17 years old.  He crossed and was caught at the US-Mexico Border, and was put on expedited removal.  The husband conceded to removability and sought for voluntary departure, and was released on his own recognizance. The husband failed to depart. The Law Office of Julia R. Binger filed an alien relative petition on behalf of the husband and filed a joint motion to reopen to terminate proceedings, and to allow him to apply for adjustment of status based on his marriage to a U.S. Citizen spouse and a petition filed for his mother, which made him eligible for 245(i).  The client’s adjustment application was approved.
